Construction Timelapse — Documenting a Project from Above

A construction timelapse compresses weeks, months, or years of site activity into a compelling short video — showing the full arc of a project from ground break to completion in a format that is immediately engaging and easy to share. Shot from a consistent aerial position at regular intervals, a drone timelapse captures the transformation of a site in a way that no ground-level camera can match.

The aerial perspective shows the whole site simultaneously — multiple trades working in parallel, structures rising, site conditions changing — in a single frame. It is both a powerful marketing tool and a genuinely useful project record.

Example — Berkeley Commons construction timelapse

The video below was captured using a DJI Mavic 3 Pro, flown from a consistent position at regular intervals throughout the construction period and edited into a single continuous timelapse sequence.

What a construction timelapse delivers

A well-produced aerial timelapse is one of the most shareable pieces of content a construction firm or developer can produce. It demonstrates capability, craftsmanship, and project scale in a way that photographs and written descriptions cannot. For marketing purposes, it works equally well on a company website, in a project pitch, or on social media.

Beyond marketing, a timelapse serves as a documented record of site progression — a visual audit trail that captures conditions at each stage of construction. For dispute resolution, warranty claims, or project handover documentation, having a comprehensive visual record of the build sequence has practical value.

How it works

We fly the site from a consistent position and altitude at agreed intervals — weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly depending on the project timeline and budget. Each visit produces a set of stills and short video clips that are assembled into the final timelapse at the end of the project, or delivered as an interim cut at key milestones. The drone is flown by an FAA Part 107 certified pilot with full commercial insurance.
